Baptism

Next week I'll be participating in a forum on baptism. Here are my questions for you:
  • How does your tradition view baptism and why?
  • How is it practiced?
  • Who is an authority on this practice?
  • What resources are you aware of?

Thanks for your input.

My church practices believer's baptism. It is meant to be an outward sign of an inward change. I can't think of any particularly good authority, but I always figure that Millard Erickson sums up the standard Evangelical view on most things. I would start with his discussion in Christian_Theology.

Thanks Ryan. We also practice believer's baptism. Millard Erickson would be a good source.

I found the book Believer's Baptism: Sign of the New Covenant in Christ to be helpful.

Thanks Stan. I just placed that in my shopping cart at Amazon.
